The Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Attah, talk say road tolls fit come back for 2024. Dem cancel am for 2021 sake of the e-levy wey no work well. The ministry talk say we for get national talk about how we go finance road construction. E be some serious matter wey dem dey discuss for parliament today.



Kwame Agbodza, Minority Chief Whip, talk say the minister talk be good news. E welcome the reintroduction for tolls wey he add say make everybody involve demma body for this national talk.

"I believe say the minister don do the correct thing. I go still talk say the suspension bin too quick. By the time we suspend am, we dey collect 78 million. Mr. speaker, abi we all know say 78 million fi pay SMCs and the contractors wey dey help us weed our roadsides sake till now saf, we no fi dey pay them. So e good well well say di minister don make dis bold decision to bring back di talk about road tolls. E dey important."

"The minister dey propose for national dialogue on road financing. Mr. Speaker, I believe say na di right thing to do. Make we all sit down, make we talk about how we go take fund our roads. We no fit just dey depend on loans from World Bank or free money from anywhere. Make we debate on how we go fit fund our roads from inside our country," Na so he talk.

For the other side saf, Deputy Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, talk say the decision to bring back road tolls dey go for the right direction. But e talk say when dem reintroduce the tolls, make dem do am for digital form so we no go lose money for the state.

"Mr. Speaker, back then we dey collect almost 70 million, but over 70% of the tolls end up for wrong hands. I believe say if we go bring back the road tolls, we for make sure say we get digital solution wey go sustain am so that we go fit reduce human involvement or even comot am completely."
