Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) talk say dem don bring new tax policy for ride-hailing car owners. Dem call am Value Income Tax (VIT) and e go start from January 1.
For the notice wey the Authority issue, dem talk say the levy dey follow Section 22 of Regulations 2016, LI 2244. E mean say any person wey get commercial car wey dey make money from the operation of the car go pay income tax every quarter.
E make the Authority come tell Uber, Yango, and Bolt say make dem update their digital platforms to include the new tax requirements.
The guidelines wey dem outline for these companies include say dem go need softcopy of the VIT sticker, dem go validate the sticker with GRA to confirm say e genuine, and dem go submit list of all vehicles on their platform to GRA every quarter.
GRA talk say dem go enforce these requirements from January 1, 2024. GRA still talk say make ride-hailing car owners register their motors for any of the GRA offices so dem go fit pay VIT using the shortcode *222#.
